THE STUDIO is a cooperative of theatre artists founded to provide a vibrant performance space to work at their art in an atmosphere which fosters mutual growth and collaboration through Studio affiliation, and to promote creative interaction between the artists and the community by producing innovative and thought-provoking productions, mentoring emerging talent and establishing an educational resource to celebrate the power and imagination of theater.

We are a community of artists — actors, directors, playwrights, producers, singers, dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, designers and a wide range of technical wizards — practicing their chosen crafts in a professional, challenging environment that fosters collaboration and mutual growth through STUDIO membership.​

We are not a "theatre company." We are a "STUDIO", a cooperative of about 150 members, with an open door to the opportunity of enhancing the creative lives of our membership and our community at large.
THE STUDIO provides a "workout" space and an actual performance venue for artists to create, collaborate and develop new, exciting and challenging theatre adventure— projects of their own choosing and passion, performed for the communities where they live.

THE STUDIO is a rich resource for our Valley Community and Arizona, annually presenting a varied season of professionally crafted productions — dramas, comedies, musicals, short plays and original works — at remarkably affordable prices.
THE STUDIO also offers a diverse educational program for Studio members and the general public.

Founded in 2005, THE STUDIO is now almost 20 years old. Our membership sets us apart from any other theatre group in Arizona. Our doors have always been open to theatre artists — even through the economic collapse of 2008-10 and the Covid pandemic of 2019-22.
We have been recognized and honored with grants from the Virginia P. Piper Foundation, The Arizona Commission On The Arts and The Dale Wasserman Foundation.
We are a 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit organization, administered and staffed by volunteers. Our members and our volunteers, are the heart of THE STUDIO.
