John Rich – actor, director
epitomizes the saying “jack of all trades.” He attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he majored in acting and technical theater. John started teaching ballroom dance in 1990 for T.C. Dance Club, International and quickly became the top-ranking ballroom dance instructor/choreographer in the state of Iowa. He is a gold-level ballroom dancer who has competed Pro/Am throughout the United States and has received training from some of the top competitors ballroom dancing has to offer. Since then he has choreographed dances for both Pro/Am and amateur ballroom competitions, college show choirs and musical theater. A martial artist of 27 years, John has studied Tae Kwon Do, Shorin Ryu Karate, Aikido and Aikijujitsu as well as fencing (both European and Japanese), kickboxing and Muy Thai. He has been fight choreographer for both stage and screen, creating fights for such productions as Oklahoma (Hale Theater), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Shakespeare Theater), Fight Club (Feast of Fools Theater), Words Wit and Wisdom (Herberger STAGES Actor Training Program) and Psycho Manor (Dream Film Productions). He has been killed in such films as Vampire Slayers, The Last Gunfighter and Psycho Manor and has been seen on stage in Relationships Gone Awry (John), Into The Woods (Baker), The Manly Man’s Musical Review (John), Three Men On A Horse (Clarence), My Fair Lady (Henry Higgins), Big River (Duke) and The Lion In Winter (Richard) among others. He is also a singer, juggler unicyclist and successful business owner. John would like to thank his wife Dee, his son Mason and his daughter Zoey for their never-ending love and support and the Theatre Artists Studio for giving its members such a fantastic resource in which to flex their creative muscles!
