Joe Bousard - actor, director, musician
has worked professionally in music and theatre for over 40 years. Since 1962 he has been a teacher and coach of voice, acting and Musical Theatre. He received his BA degree in Speech Arts and Theatre from San Diego State College. In New York City he continued his work in piano and voice while directing choral groups and producing his own musical theatre productions. Joe has won awards for Children’s Television and is a grant recipient and member of ASCAP and Actor's Equity. He has taught at many colleges and schools in the US and Japan. Since his return to Phoenix in 1994, he has appeared on stage in A Christmas Carol (twice), All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, The King of the Kosher Grocers and the musical revue Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance for Paradise Valley Community College, for which he was also Musical Director and Arranger. He played and arranged the "live" musical underscore to Arizona Jewish Theatre’s Brighton Beach Memoirs, and coordinated and arranged the live music for AJT’s Teibele and Her Demon. He co-produced and musically arranged the ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence in 1995 and 1997. He completed a successful run of Triple Play, a cabaret musical that he helped to create. In 2000, Joe won the ariZoni award for best musical direction for his work in A Musical Cabaret for a company co-founded by his daughter, Shana, and her husband, Dominik Rebilas, which is now called TML ARTS. Joe is also the founding Director of Puma Jazz, the ‘big band’ at Paradise Valley Community College. Joe and his wife Lorraine have appeared together in various musicals. Their daughter, Shana, is a busy actress and singer and has also performed with her parents. Joe continues to teach and coach and has many talented students.
